Minutes from May 14th, 2003 Board Meeting, 7:15 Present: Mark Gregory, Jeremy Latch, Mik Muller, Kat Hoyden, Mary Drew arrived approx. 8:15 Also in attendance: Jeff Singleton, Sam Guilford Previous meeting minutes not available Treasurer report: $500 in checking, $2300 in savings. Kat & Jeremy Stafford tested huge ceiling mounted lights in brick studio, researched online for estimated fair market value for potential sale to upgrade video taping equipment (cameras). Kat is to contact Theatrix in Belchertown to see if they handle repairs and/or deal in used lighting equipment of this caliber (3 Disisti lights need bulbs and possible repair.) Mark: Purchase & Sale Agreement has been signed, it provides for around 2 months for Brick House to come up with renovation plan and seek funding. Agenda: loose discussion of plan of action. It was generally agreed by all present that MCCI should immediately gear up to attract new board members, preferably with business management and/or grant writing experience. Jeff outlined 3 preliminary ideas that need to be addressed ASAP 1) update existing business plan (Jeff offered to work on this part) 2) discription of equipment beyond inventory list for field kits, multi-camera shoots, editing facility etc. in order to define what capabilities our currently functioning equipment has. 3) production needs to keep happening, serious producers group needs to form. Mik added to Jeff's list 4) outreach 5) enforcement of policies and procedures Sam Guildford asked about equipment and whose property is it really? If we sell equipment, what use would the money really go for? Supporting the building? Jeff stressed the importance of Sam's questions because of the community expectation that if GCTV were to lose the assignment, any new equipment that had been bought with the commmunity's contribution to cable access is to remain in Montague, whereas MCCI, a private non-profit, retains control of the old assets. [note from Kat: at the time MCCI lost the assignment, Tom Adams was our staff and was in contact with GCTV representatives who expressed a lack of interest, according to Tom, in even examining the equipment or space at 24 Third St. Someone may want to confirm that with Tom, I am sure that is what he stated to me.) Sam stated that he felt that the collective organization of MCCI could barely function without the assignment and hates to think of what would happen if it received the assignment back. Meeting adjourned approx. 9 p.m. Next informal gathering Monday, June 2nd, 7 p.m. Jeremy Latch and Jeff Singleton expect to do some cleaning and organizing THIS WEEK,contact them if you are available to help. Brick House, Hot Spot has an Art Auction they want to use the brick studio for in June which is right around the corner. Next Board Meeting Monday, June 16th, 7 p.m.
